Connecting to City WiFi and VPN

Applies to: All City employees and authorized visitors

WiFi Networks

CityOfRedlands-Secure (Employees)

For city-owned devices and employee personal devices:

1. Select "CityOfRedlands-Secure" from available networks
2. Enter your credentials:
   • Username: firstname.lastname (without @cityofredlands.org)
   • Password: Your computer login password
3. Accept the security certificate when prompted
4. You should now be connected

Supported Devices: Windows, Mac, iOS, Android

CityOfRedlands-Guest (Visitors)

For visitors and temporary access:

1. Select "CityOfRedlands-Guest"
2. Open any web browser
3. Enter the daily guest code (available at reception desks)
4. Accept the terms of use
5. Valid for 8 hours

CityOfRedlands-Public

Open network for public areas (libraries, community centers):

• No password required
• Limited bandwidth
• Basic web browsing only

VPN Access (Remote Work)

Initial Setup (One-time)

1. Receive VPN approval from your manager
2. IT will email you:
   • VPN client download link
   • Your unique configuration file
   • Setup instructions

Connecting to VPN

1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect client
2. Server address: vpn.cityofredlands.org
3. Enter credentials:
   • Username: firstname.lastname
   • Password: Your computer password
   • Second Password: 6-digit code from authenticator app
4. Click "Connect"

VPN Best Practices

• Only connect when accessing city resources
• Disconnect when finished
• Don't use for personal browsing
• Report connection issues immediately

Troubleshooting

WiFi Issues

• Forget and re-add the network
• Restart your device
• Ensure WiFi is enabled
• Check if others can connect
• Move closer to access point

VPN Issues

• Ensure you're on a stable internet connection
• Check authenticator app time sync
• Try disconnecting and reconnecting
• Verify your account isn't locked
